Editor's review
As the most visited museum in the Netherlands, the Van Gogh museum certainly isnt lacking in popularity. But with its impressive collection of 200 paintings, 400 drawings, and 700 letters by the eminent Post-Impressionist artist, all housed in a beautifully designed work of contemporary architecture, its easy to see why. Starting with early works like The Potato Eaters, the museums exhibitions trace the evolution of the artist through famous images such as Skull of a Skeleton with Burning Cigarette, The Yellow House, and finally his last works like Wheatfield with Crows. The museum will be closed for renovations in the fall of 2012 for six months. Some of the museums pieces will be on display in the Hermitage museum during this period.
