First opening in 1968 as the Cosmic Relaxation Centre Paradiso for the citys ever-growing counterculture youth movement, Paradiso has evolved into a beloved stalwart in Amsterdams nightlife. As a live music venue, Paradiso hosts concerts by a wide variety of bands from established rock bands, to up-and-coming experimental artists. Paradiso is equally known for its club nights, such as the now-famous Noodlanding! night, which focuses on danceable alternative music hits. There are usually five club nights per week, not to mention the bigger festival-style gigs such as Manifesto and Lovedance.
