This cosy eetcafé has an idyllic Amsterdam location - right along a canal, on the edge of the leafy Grachtengordel west district. If colder weather wont allow you to enjoy the lovely canal-side patio, Spanjer & Van Twist is just as cheerful indoors. Soups, salads, and quiches are the most popular fare at Spanjer in the daytime, when locals stop by for an afternoon coffee and bite to eat. In the evening more substantial fare is served, including fish and pasta, and usually washed down with a glass of wine. A filling lunch will set you back under 10 euro - with prices like that its no wonder relaxed eetcafés enjoy the popularity they do with Amsterdammers.
