When a destination is too far to walk, the weather is too unpleasant to cycle, and driving is simply impossible (which is usually the case in the centre), most Amsterdammers prefer to travel by GVB - Amsterdams public transportation service. Most of the city centre is easily accessible via a grid of quick and efficient trams, and many buses are available to go further out. Amsterdam has even introduced a metro in recent years. Traveling using the GVB couldnt be easier with the recent introduction of OV chipcards, which run on a convenient check-in, check-out system.
