What's Happening!
So you've made it! Welcome to what is currently one of the most exciting places in the world right now. We're half way through the naughties and Berlin is still managing to maintain its artistic, anarchic edge that characterised the city through the 90s; as well as cementing its status as the financial and political capital of New Europe.
Visitors won't find a better time to visit than right now, where you will find all the facilities and attractions of a modern metropolis, side by side with the renewed vigour of an ex-Soviet bloc city.
If you haven't found a place to stay yet then we can recommend The Circus, for budget-conscious young explorers; or for those who want a prime view of the Berlin Wall, why not try the East Side? Big spenders however should settle for nothing less than the Adlon Kempinski - Wacko Jacko's choice when he is in town!
Once you've found a place to lay your head it's time to put the bags down and start exploring. Berlin is vast, with easily enough to do to occupy you for months let alone days - but those who want to tick off the main sites should head for Museuminsel, where the Pergamon heads an all-star cast of museums and the Berliner Dom affords some of the best views of the city. A walk down Unter Der Linden will then lead you to the Brandenburg Gate and into the impressive Tiergarten Park.
If all that sounds like hungry work, then why not stop for a bite at the acclaimed Vietnamese classic Monsieur Vuong? You can't reserve a table, so get there early! And if drinking's more your thing then the area of Mitte is your best bet. Bars can be quite hard to find, so it's worth consulting the locals. King Kong Klub is a good place to start your crawl!
Well there's a few ideas to get you started - albeit just the tip of the iceburg! If you have any favourite hangouts or suggestions that you feel we should list, or if you have any feedback and questions then please get in contact with us, and we'll get on the case.
Until then have a great time, and we hope that you enjoy Berlin as much as we do!
Regards, the Berlin-life team
