Editor's review
A permanent tribute to both film and television, the Deutsche Kinemathek museum promotes the best of both media and explores the massive impact they have had on the world.
The permanent exhibitions stretch all the way back to the pioneers of the moving image in the late 1800s, and includes plenty of outstanding movies and film extracts. Especially worth a look is 'Das Cabinet Des Dr Caligari', a horror movie with an expressionist bent, shot in Berlin in 1920.
Being in Berlin, the museum also examines the changes that have happened in German film-making, shaped by the political events of a turbulent century for that nation.
