Editor's review
For almost half a century, Berlin was a city divided between the victorious powers of the Second World War. Many museums and galleries here are devoted to the Soviet occupation of the Eastern side of the city - while this one focuses on the role of the Allies.
It's an educational establishment as much as a museum, where staff aim not just to preserve artefacts from 1945-94, but also to research the period.
The permanent collection includes military and civilian artefacts, illustrating everyday life in the 'Western' half of a city, alongside video footage and documents.
Open every day except Wednesdays, free admission.
