Editor's review
The Northern Prenzlauer Berg Congregation has four churches in this part of Berlin, but none have such a reputation as Gethsemanekirche.
Since it was built, in 1893, the church's congregation has been vocal in support of peace and freedom, which has landed it in hot water on more than once occasion.
It was a haven for protestors who, protesting against the regime of the former German Democratic Republic, fled there as the Stasi broke up their demonstration in 1989. The church continues to oppose wars globally, and many visitors to Berlin join the congregation behind the red-brick walls in order to show their support.
