To give it its full name, this is the German Resistance Memorial Centre - a museum, archive and research centre dedicated to the Germans who orchestrated a campaign against the Nazis.

The symbolism of the location cannot be ignored, for the museum is based at the former headquarters of the Wehrmacht High Command, which were based there from 1935 to 1944. It was in this building that Hitler plotted some of the worst attrocities of the second world war.

Now, a permanent exhibition displays documents, photographs and more, and is as much a place of pilgrimage as it is a museum and memorial.
