Editor's review
Rather confusingly, Mitte Museum is not actually in Berlin's Mitte district. Rather, it is right on the border of the triangle formed by the edges of Wedding, Prenzlauer and Pankow, and is a new amalgamation of the former Mitte Museum, the Heimatmuseum Tiergarten, and the Heimatmuseum Wedding.
The collaboration has led to the creation of one of the largest collection of manuscripts and other documents in Berlin, charting the history of the city in social, cultural and economic terms.
The museum is especially worth a visit for anyone interested in local history, as it runs regular programmes and projects to record life stories through oral history.
