Uruk. 5000 Years of the Megacity

Exactly 100 years ago, the German Oriental Society started an excavation near the town Warka in Southern Iraq. The lucky archaeologists should discover the remains of Uruk, the place of the first known urban culture. Down to the present day, less than five percent of the area have been examined.
In celebration of this anniversary, Pergamon Museum arranges a big exhibition comprising items of the permanent exhibition and loans from other museums like the Louvre and the British museum. Additionaly, the museum will display virtual reconstructions of Uruk buildings and the cityscape.
