Explore Berlin's History on Google Earth
Now that the good people at Google Earth have allowed us to take an exploratory walk on the moon, we're glad they've set their sights back onto our humble planet. Berlin is one of several cities in the world whose features have been expanded not only to Street View, which allows users to virtually take a "walk" through the city's streets, but also to include 3-D buildings and the extraordinary historical view.
With the historical feature, users can view aerial photos taken by Allied forces on March 21, 1945 when the city lay in ruins. It's an incredible look at the devastation caused by war - and a look forward to 1953 can see the progress of rebuilding Berlin.
The 3-D format of Google Earth in Berlin allows users to view virtual models of thousands of the city's buildings and landmarks.
