Nefertiti to Remain in Berlin

After continued demands from Egypt, one of the most prized artifacts in the collection of Berlin's Neues Museum, the Nefertiti bust, will remain in the Egyptian Museum and Papyrus Collection.

Egyptian authorities have claimed that the famed Nefertiti bust was removed from the country unlawfully following its discovery by Ludwig Borchardt. The German archaeologist claimed the bust was made of plaster (when it is in fact made of plaster-covered limestone), thus allowing for him to return the artifact lawfully to Germany (then Prussia).

However, German authorities insist the acquisition was lawful and that the bust is too fragile to travel - even for a short loan.

Stop by the Neues Museum from 10am until 6pm Sun-Wed and until 8pm Thurs-Sat. Entrance is 10 euro. For more info stop by the website here.
