The U.S. Election Fever

Go on - show us one city that didn't party after yesterday's election. Berlin certainly wasn't one of them. Whether young or mature, hip or sedate, German or American - everybody had a blast! Except for the republicans maybe...

Two weeks before the elections, 350 tickets to the Democrats Abroad party were sold. That night Berlin changed into an American city: popcorn, hot-dogs, American flags and cardboard masks of the candidates flooded the streets.

Most of the party attendees kept their fingers crossed for the "Yes We Can" candidate from Chicago. In an informal poll, taken by the Berliners, Obama received 106 votes. McCain was left with only 5.
