A bar named after the singer and artist Serge Gainsbourg could hardly be anything but French. The man who burnt a 500 franc note for the cameras and posed half-naked with his 14-year-old daughter for the disturbing Lemon Incest video had, according to this venue's owners 'a flair for self-promotion.' Certainly he was rarely off the front pages for very long.
But it is Gainsbourg's music that really sets the tone for the bar. His songs are performed at the venue by Michèle Arnaud, helping set the tone for a night of laid back, trendy Parisian style.
The cocktail menu here runs to quite some lengths, featuring all the classics and some surprises too. And there are of course whiskeys and champagnes, should you prefer something a little more classic.
