Editor's review
Such is the popularity of Sasaya that, unless you make a booking at least a day in advance, you are very unlikely to get a seat at one of Berlin's hottest Japanese restaurants.
Why? Well, fish dishes at Sasaya are famous for being the best in Prenzlauer, the best in Berlin, or the best outside Japan (depending on who you talk to). That's not all there is to it, because the 'wine list' quickly opens up a whole new world of sake too. And of course there are traditional Japanese touches, like dining at low tables while sitting on the floor, and being told that it's closing time long before midnight.
A word to the wise - don't waste time trying to find their website because there isn't one. Get on the phone, and persist until you've successfully booked your table.
