Historic Slovak Castle Suffers Fire

The huge castle of Krasna Horka in eastern Slovakia has suffered massive damage from a fire. It is thought that extremely dry grass surrounding the building was accidentally set alight by two boys attempting to light up cigarettes.

Representatives from the Slovak National Museum, which runs tours in the castle, has said that the damage was extensive but only seriously affected 10% of Krasna Horkas historic collections. However, the castles roof and bell tower has burned down completely, as well as a new exhibition.

Krasna Horka is situated on a hill in the Slovak region of Kosice and dates back to the 14th century.
