Slovak Film Awards Distributed
The Slovak Film and television Academy has held a ceremony for the biennial awards for film and television entitled the Narodne filmove ceny Slnko v sieti (Sun in Net National Film Awards). The event took place at the Slovak National Theatre.
Leading the pack with six awards was Zuzana Liova's Dom (The House), which took Best Picture, Best Screenplay, and four acting awards for leading actor Miroslav Krobot, actress Judit Bardos, supporting actress Tatjana Medvecka, and supporting actor Market Geisberg.
Also picking up six awards was Martin Sulik's Cigan (Gypsy) which won awards for such achievements as Best Director and Best Cinematography.
The Sun in Net awards are named after Stefan Uher's 1963 film of the same name, which was the first film of the Czechoslovak New Wave movement. The awards have taken place once every two years since 2004.
