Romanian Boxer Retains Title in Bucharest

Romanian-born boxer Lucian Bute has emerged victorious from a match against Frenchman Jean Paul Mendy in Bucharest. By winning this particular fight, Bute has managed to retain his world championship IBF super middleweight title.

The match took place at Bucharests Romexpo to an audience of roughly 10 000 people. It was also extremely well funded and promoted, with Romanias Tourism Ministry taking the chance to promote the countrys brand via European funding.
