Romanian Pianist Mihaela Ursuleasa Dies at 33
Renowned Romanian concert pianist Mihaela Ursuleasa, who has been living in Vienna, Austria, has suddenly died. The Vienna police found Ursuleasa in her home and have speculated that her death may have been caused from a brain aneurysm.
Mihaela Ursuleasa became an international sensation as early as her teenage years, touring the world and making a name for herself. She eventually won the Clara Haskil International Piano competition in 1995, and studied at the Vienna Conservatory under Italian conductor Claudio Abbado. Her idiosyncratic style won her the Echo Klassik award for her debut album Piano & Forte in 2010.
Ursuleasas survivors include her mother and her five-year-old daughter.
