Breathing Mechanics

Breathing Mechanics is a recently formed quartet (2018). The four members of the band are half from Italy and half native from the Netherlands. After collaborating in different bands, the four musicians decided to start a new project devoted to total improvisation: that choice reflects the great interest each member has for improvisation and instant- composing.

The standard jazz quartet with guitar sound is subverted by the strong identities of each member the band: their intrinsic interplay and the experimental attitude allows Breathing Mechanics to sound like no one else. Each performance is focused on the very basic elements of musical language, which are the ground for adventurous exploration, and fuelled by a discrete use of electronics and extended techniques.
