Local Life fans enjoying shows at Parktheater
Parktheater and Local Life Eindhoven gave away tickets to two shows. Two of our lucky followers won the tickets and wrote a review about the shows!
This is what one of the winners, Katie, said about the show "A tribute to Madiba":
"A Tribute to Madiba (03/04/2015) offered a great programme with singers and a choir mixing singing and traditional dancing to up-tempo numbers and laid-back songs. Regular explanations were given in English about the music, South Africa and Mandela. The whole performance featured a background video of South African images, but we didn't feel that it added much to the show, as nothing was said about it and it didn't seem to have anything to do with what was happening on stage. However, the Grote Zaal at the Parktheater is a lovely space and there was a good atmosphere. We enjoyed the performance with its recognisable sights and sounds, including the choir's version of the Ladysmith Black Mambazo Choir and Paul Simon song and Miriam Makeba's famous Patta Patta, as well as the other completely unknown but great numbers. After the show, the performers came in to the foyer to talk to the audience and sell their CD. They were very enthusiastic and even let us take their photo. Overall it was a lovely and exciting evening-out at a nice theatre."
The other lucky winner, Christa, who won tickets to Greg Shapiro's Part-time Hypocrite had this to say about the show:
"Greg Shapiro's Part-time Hypocrite (18/03/2015) was an incredibly intelligent and original comedy concept which ensured a fun night-out at the lovely Parktheater. Performed in English, but with plenty of Dutch touches, Shapiro led us through a chain of current world issues, from big businesses to political participation. Eclectically decked out with plants, the Philipszaal stage featured a family-style dining table on one side and a corporate-looking brainstorming board on the other. Shapiro moved seamlessly from one issue to the next in each of the separate spaces to provide a light-hearted take on the world in both a family and business context. The material was great and Shapiro himself was a very kind, approachable and engaging performer with refreshing viewpoints. I will definitely keep an eye out for his other performances, especially at the beautiful Parktheater with its friendly staff and lovely bar and dining areas."
