Editor's review
Built in 1655 by Jerzy Strakowski, the Jerusalem Bastion is a must for any visitor to the city! In 2001, a cross was built upon the hill to celebrate 2000 years of Christianity and the area is commonly referred to as 'the Cross.' From the Cross, one can see the entire northern side of the city from a spectacular height. The cranes of the Shipyard give the city a unique apperence and beyond their insect-like arms, the Baltic glistens in the sun. Behind the Cross, you can walk around and see a number of underground forts and artillery depots. You can also see the Old town and the southern part of the city from the Napoleon Donjon, where the Napoleonic Armies once looked down upon a city they would soon possess! The best view of Gdansk and the perfect place for a picnic or walk with the dog.
