The European Solidarity Centre, ECS, is first and foremost a state-of-the-art cultural institution that honours the greatest Polish civic success—the victorious Solidarity movement. The idea of the ECS, however, goes beyond; the facility constitutes a space for whoever is interested in the development of democracy, and is the place where the spirit of solidarity and citizenship are put into practice. Thanks to its huge collection of books and films, the ECS is also a meeting place and an educational centre. So far, the ECS has organized 17 temporary exhibitions and 180 conferences, published 35 books and released 15 documentary films. Let’s not fail to mention that the ECS was the first institution which carried out a national research on Poles’ opinion on Solidarity. It is here that you can feel a connection with the ethos of the noteworthy social movement. Visiting the ECS is a face-to-face meeting with an astonishing heritage that should not be missed!
