Gdynia Seahawks Win Polish Superbowl

With American footballs popularity in Poland on the rise, the annual Polish Superbowl final game is becoming one of the years most anticipated sports events. In the 2012 edition, the Warsaw Eagles went head-to-head with the Gdynia Seahawks, who clinched the title with a final score of 52-37.

The Polish Superbowl took place in the newly built National Stadium in Warsaw, which recently hosted games during the UEFA Euro 2012 football championship. American football games typically attract crowds in the hundreds in Poland, so it was a big surprise when some 25 000 people attended this years final at the stadium.

The event was held under the honorary patronage of Warsaws mayor Hanna Gronkiewicz-Waltz and the US ambassador to Poland Lee Feinstein.
