Like seafood? Yeah, you do. Have trouble deciding where to go? Not anymore. The Tawerna (Tavern) boasts a stout menu chock full of the best the sea has to offer. And don't worry, that guy in your party that doesn't take too kindly to fish, squid and the like, will be more than satisfied by the tradiitonal Polish entrees also found on the menu. Tawerna can brag about the awards they have won at international competitions, but they'll probably just let the food do the talking. The old school maritime decor will put you in the mood and the elegant bar will make sure you stay there. Take advantage of the outdoor cafe and the banquet hall or, if you prefer, just let them cater your next event.

THE ATMOSPHERE IS NICE BUT THE FOOD OVERPRICED AND THE FISH SELECTION VERY POOR. THE STURGEON TASTED VERY FISHY. THE APPLE PIE WAS REALLY BAD. THE SERVICE AVERAGE. WE WILL NOT EAT THERE AGAIN.
We found tawerna at out first evening and hae a very nice duck. So we decided to come back again. Food was marveleus also this timebbut we were very dissapointed because of cheating. Waiters tried to dubble -bill for a drink and charge of a portion we did not order. We left with a sad mind. Because of 10 euro the restaurant lost our respect. So sad.

Really way too expensive for what you get. Sure, I agree, the restaurant is nice and the interior is excellent, but the prices! Not what you would expect from normally inexpensive Poland (and way above Gdansk average).

I havent got a clue where they got the photo above from? This place is much classyer than the photo. If you try Tawerna you must got for the Polish soup. Served in bread!!! I thought it was bad translation but the soup came in bread! It not only looked good but tasted wonderful. A bit pricey but only for Poland you would expect to pay more for what we had in England.
Just returned from 5 days in gdansk. Tawerna is our Place! We were a party of 10 who wanted to test some of the upmarket eateries in gdansk. We ended up in Tawerna 3 times! Excellent food (Try the polish equivalent of eisbein with sauerkraut. Boiled in beer with cummin and horseradish- melts in the mouth). God wines, good beer, good vodka and superb service from the smiling waiters, cooks and other attendants.
Conclusion: in itself a good reason to visit gdansk.
Easy to find: 20m to the right of the green gate.

Great service and food.I visited this restaurant becouse of recommendation but I came back becouse of delicious food . In Summer you can sit outside, which is another plus factor. Excellent !
This picture doesn't do the place any justice - actually it looks a whole lot better, and the food is good too!
