Editor's review
A splendid galleon sailing under the captaincy of writer Stephan Wackwitz, the Goethe Institute is a model of civility that would surely have pleased the venerable Johann W. G himself. Germany's cultural institute has made its home in one of the most striking palaces on the square, a suave neo-classical stunner that you could well imagine an eighteenth century philosopher stepping out of. There is a fine library on the first floor, with newspapers and internet access. Regular lectures, seminars and concerts are organized, as well as exhibitions from the realms of photography and contemporary art. Extensive German language courses on offer.
