Editor's review
After Prague (1348), Cracow's Jagiellonian University (1364) is the oldest university in Central Europe. As Cracow escaped many of the ravages that other Polish cities were subjected to, the University remains a treasure trove of beautiful buildings, many of which have preserved priceless relics from across the centuries. This museum at the hallowed Collegium Maius provides the best introduction to the University's history. Their guided tours take you through a sequence of impressive rooms, and the walk is peppered with quirky anecdotes about past heros and villains. All kinds of trinkets are on show, from sixteenth century golden globes to a 21st century Golden Oscar that was won by Film Director Andrzej Wajda.
