Editor's review
This is likely to be all a bit bewildering if you're unfamiliar with the stars in Cracovian theatre, but even if you're not oriented in that world, art lovers can still find plenty to savour. The House Under The Cross (Dom Pod Kryzem) is a charming old building just over the road from the flamboyant Slowacki theatre. The main focus of the exhibits is on the turn of the century heyday when figures such as Helena Modrzejewska, the grande dame of Polish theatre, became celebrities. There are some good portraits, as well as plenty of nostalgic theatricial paraphernalia. There are also a pair of decent portraits by that legendary innovator of theatre and painting, Witkacy. Ah... to tread the boards once more duckie....
