Bread and Breakfast: bread baking classes // Eataway
Is the smell of fresh bread in the morning the thing you wish for on every cold winter weekend in Krakow? If yes, and you want to learn how to do it yourself, I invite you for a morning baking session with me. The course will last 3 hours: After we make the dough and form the breads, we will have a big breakfast and I explain the basics and the magics behind baking. When the breads have risen, we will bake them, and prepare some spreads in the meantime. It is easier than you think. I love to have guests at my home, even at 9 in the morning.
A TYPICAL MENU
- Welcome coffee and some fruits to start the day.
Everyone will prepare a bread dough and we will form breads.
While the bread rises, we will enjoy a German breakfast, including fresh juice, various jams and spreads, honey, cheese, meats, egg – boiled/scrambled/fried, and some homemade baked goods. During this, I will explain the science and lore behind baking.
- When the bread has risen we will start baking it. While it bakes we will prepare some spreads for you to take home and enjoy with your bread.
Meet the Cook: Robert
"I'm a young cook from Germany who now lives in Krakow for a year. I moved here with my girlfriend after I finished my apprenticeship. Ever since I was young I've been interested in food and cooking. Which also brought me to working in gastronomy and gave me the chance to expand my knowledge about food, technique and the culture behind it all. For the last 3 years, I've been baking my own bread, and have become confident in my abilities to do so. I try to explore many different techniques from cuisines all over the world and understand the methods behind as well as the similarities between them. I like to meet new people who are, at least for some part, interested in food, and do believe that cooking and eating together brings different cultures closer to one another."
