Farmers Markets

not really - we don't have anything that resembles Borough Market or a proper farmers' market - the closest we come are the Stary and Nowy Kleparz, with only a few stalls selling local cheeses and often even these are fake imitations of the real thing (e.g. it's not the season for oscypek but you'll see it being sold). There are a few people selling home made meat products but these are made well away from the control of any hygiene inspectors and everything else that's on sale is stuffed full of nitrates. It's not the season for any vegetables so the only authentic local food you're likely to find are fresh chickens, dried mushrooms and last autumn's apples. Pretty much everything else is imported or mass produced for cheapness.
