This hotel is something of a gem, with a location that would be hard to beat. You're literally a stone's throw from the Old Town Square - the entrance is on Grodzka street, which is part of the famous Royal Way. Inside you'll find a smart, uncluttered style, with creams and beiges setting the tone. Its a stylish modern hotel, yet with this being Cracow, you'll find some charming throwbacks to the olden days - a splendid Renaissance column was unearthed during restoration. Rooms are elegantly appointed, and come with satellite TV and internet connection. Bathrooms are light and modern - all in all an attractive hotel.

Brilliant location in the centre of the old town. Staff very friendly and helpful.Decor was basic but clean with a very spacious room.
We purposely selected a low budget option when we went to Krakow. I have to say that the Jan Hotel was excellent, It's basically no frills but the hotel is quite, rooms are small but very clean and adequate. The location is excellent, we would never have found it but I let Freebookers search for us and they came up with the goods.
Friendly, spotlessly clean and comfortable enough for a short stay when you are out most of the time. Breakfast fine and plentiful. Location - the best.
Basic, but very comfortable. The location was fantastic--just meters from the Market Square. Restaurants, churches, and museums were convenient.
Very clean, simple and friendly place. It has fantastic location - just few steps away from the Main Square and castle. easy to get to Kazimierz (Jewish Quarter) by foot from there too! I very much enjoyed my stay in Jan Hotel and would like to come back soon to Krakow!
I have just returned from a brilliant stay in Krakow. This hotel is actually on the main square.turn right and you are on the royal route to the Castle. The rooms, freshly renovated, are pretty large, very clean and warm with en suite. The lady at the reception is so helpful and pleasant. He speaks perfect English and arranged all tours for us plus airport pick up/drop off. I will be returning to Krakow and to this hotel again with my friends."
When I reviewed my rating, I saw that I had forgotten to rate this hotel. I would not rate it a 3/5 - but, rather, a 4/5.
My husband, brother, and I spent three nights at the Hotel Jan. We found it very clean with a large, pleasant room, though a bit plain. The breakfast was good; staff members were very helpful. The location is absolutely perfect and makes up for the simple furnishings. I would go back to Hotel Jan any time. Thank you!
We stayed here for 5 days and it was very good. We were so happy to find that once we closed the windows there was little to no noise from the street below. Being so close to the main square was a plus and the staff were so gracious with our lack of the language.
I would stay here again
The hotel was good but the best thing about our stay in Krakow was the staff, 5 out of 5 just for them. Dziekuje!
We were very happy. The best thing about the hotel is the location. Its near every place you have to know. The street is full of life. The room and bathroom was allrigh, clean. The girls at the desk helpted us to go and buy the train tickets.
Probably the cheapest hotel on the royal way, and it shows. While the room was decent, the staff were not very helpful and in all our experience was average at best. But the price and location are great.
From reading the other reviews I felt we were staying in another hotel. Firstly Krakow is awesome. The location of the hotel is great, the rooms not so great. Small room with really uncomfortable bed, bathroom facilities which did not work, and the reception staff not all willing to lend any assistance. The staff were not rude just unhelpful. We booked for 4 nights but left after the first. Actually 1-2 star hotel in reality
I really loved the antique style of the hotel Jan, it had plenty of charm. The rooms were quite large, and the staff were friendly and even helped us arrange a tour. Well recommended!
I stayed in the Hotel Jan in May 2007. Firstly I would like to say I am booking to go back in April 2008. I could not believe the room we got, there were three of us and it was like a pent house we had a balcony a spa bathroom it was clean and comfortable maybe we were lucky but it was faaab..ulous. I lost my expensive bracelet in the lobby and but did not know where I had lost it till reception rang and asked me. Fab Hotel would definitely recommend and just on a last note I am fussy where I stay - Thanks Hotel Jan see you in April!!
stayed for 2 nights october 2007. booked the apartment and was impressed with how good it was. complete with a massive spa bath, the room was very clean and cleaned each day.
the location must be the best in krakow as you are about 20 metres from the square.
I never made breakfast but I would not consider staying anywhere else during my next visit.
location great, breakfast not a bad selection, rooms ok bedlinen clean but tatty, towels really nice and fluffy.
Bathroom massive but ,left a lot to be desired. Only one light working and not very clean.
They pretend to be a three star hotel. Where are-they? Breakfast is poor. Bedrooms are large but in a poor state. Bathrooms are so old and in poor state, they only have a shower, no bath. In France they would only have one star. They are not far on change rates. So if you negotiate your price be sure that it is in local money and not in Euros or in Dollars. After this bad experience week-end have been to hotel witch is cheaper and better. Its up to you
