The Market Square Wins Lonely Planet Ranking

The French branch of the Lonely Planet travel guide has awarded the Main Market Square with the Best Square 2013 title.

The portal describes Rynek Glowny as a "treasure of medieval architecture", "miraculously preserved from the damage caused by the Second World War". Lonely Planet has appreciated the head square of Krakow for the stunning St. Mary's Basillica and the Cloth Hall, "built in the sixteenth century to accommodate the cloth market now houses craft shops and souvenirs". In Lonely Planet's view, "flower stalls and street performers contribute to maintaining the magic of the place".

The portal recommends visiting the square either in July, to see the street theatre festival or in December to see the nativity scenes and the Christmas fair.
