Unlike the majority of moody, neo-gothic bars and clubs in the hip Kazimierz district of Cracow, Eighth Day... has a bright and welcoming interior, made up of three rooms whose walls have been covered with large portraits of family and friends. Its all par for the course, naturally, in Kazimierz, where anything goes. Fresh and delicious sandwiches are served up (the speciality being with pork dripping!), salads (for the healthy types), as well as cakes and the full range of drinks, beer included. Music in the cafe/pub is chosen by Piotr Czyza, DJ at Radio Krakow. A good atmosphere, with welcoming staff, makes this a place popular with well-known Cracow personalities.

apparently this is where Polish politicians from the opposition came to plan their revolution... only to not get voted in. Still they got it right two years later. don't know what Eighth Day refrs to
Was in Cracow last week to chase uo some family history- went to see the "Katyn" film one day, which was about the war crime which my grandfather was almost certainly a victim of. So was in a pensive and reflective mood that night. The Eighth Day bar suited my mood perfectly- relaxed, interesting, arty and "bohemian" in a non-pretentious way. Interesting people and interesting conversations with good looking bar staff too! Interesting music in the background as well. Apologies to staff and customers if I appeared non-sociable as I sipped several Zubrowka's and apple juice in the corner- but this place allows you to do this while feeling you can easily join in conversation with the "locals" if you want. Looking forward to my next visit very soon!
