The name 89 (or Eighty-Nine, Osiem Dziewięć in Polish) has multiple meanings. The most obvious is referring to the year when Hotel Forum, a brilliant example of brutalist architecture of communism, opened in Krakow. Nowadays, Forum is the vast and long-abandoned building where Unsound Festival throws legendary club night events during the annual festival, together with Forum Przestrzenie, a neighbouring funky hangout. With Unsound’s reputation and experience for programming music events, the main aim is to make 89 a highlight on the Polish and European underground club map. 89 will focus on dance music on weekends, with experimental music programmed during weekdays.
