The old seafaring theme restaurant with no holds barred. Dodge the caskets of treasure and the fishing nets draped on the walls, and settle down for a rather good seafood meal. There are also traditional Polish dishes to compliment the wide range of fish specialities - such as dumplings with salmon and caviar sauce and 'Neptune' dessert. Mesa is not exactly in the centre of the town, but it is just about ten minutes from Rynek by taxi, and well worth the visit. Mesa specialises in organising parties for weddings, birthdays, and everything else in between. Open from midday to 10pm, there's a garden open in the summer months, and roaring fireplace in the winter. Credit cards welcomed.*Click on our 'What's On ' Button for news of the New Year Party.*

Went to this restaurant last week (9/11/05) as we had read it has the "finest seafood in Krakow". What a disappointment! First of all, the place stank of old cooking oil which should have been our cue to get out ot there, but unfortunately we stayed. The 'background music' was a local commercial radio station belting out chart music from a huge speaker which set anything but a relaxing atmosphere. When I pointed to this speaker and then to my ears, as our waitress spoke no English, the volume was only turned down by the tiniest fraction which was no better at all.
Our starters were OK, and that is the only positive thing I can say about this place. When our main courses arrived, my halibut was stone cold and my fiancee's tuna steak was totally over cooked. The cooked vegetables we ordered turned out to be a bowl of tasteless mush straight out of the microwave, which were completely inedible.
At this stage we just wanted to leave and to top it all the bill was a full 50 zlotys more than any other we had the entire week in Krakow.
Therefore, the meal which was by far the most expensive, was also by far the worst. Do not go!!
