Authenticity is key for the folk at Portobello, who have been pleasing diners with their Italian menu since the spring of 2011.
They brought years of restaurant experience to Krakow, to create a typically Italian atmosphere and menu, with their own special touches.
They use only egg pasta, and handmade pizza-flour dough, bring their coffee from Sicily and import their meat from mainland Italy. The menu changes daily, so connoisseurs can drop by for a pleasant surprise at dinner, or simply call in for hand made cakes or a beer, wine or chocolate liqueur. Regulars know that the Portobello passion for cooking and flair for food comes at a very reasonable price, and can now take advantage of special offers by joining the loyalty card scheme.
There's a big screen for movies and sport (think Euro 2012) too.
All in all, it's like stepping into a little corner of Italy, where the sun always shines and there are smiles all round - and there's a second outlet, at ul. Estery 12, too.

I was sadly disappointed by Portobello today. Maybe I should've stuck to the pasta, but I was craving a burger and Moa was closed for renovation. So I ordered the "Italian Burger"...hmmm...just the name should've been a clue ... Italians don't DO burgers, do they? Well, Portobello surely shouldn't. It took close to 30 minutes for a ufo shaped foccacia stuffed with a bland meat patty, spinach, zucchini and low grade ketchup. An awkward gastronomic experience, at best. Not sure I want to try the other offerings.
