Editor's review
There are few restaurants in Krakow that can match U Ziyada in terms of sheer quality of view. And if you can catch it on a fine summer's day, a dinner at this castle could make for a memorable occasion. U Ziyada has been a popular place amongst Cracovians and expats for some years now, and it's just a five minute taxi drive from the City Centre. The restaurant serves international cuisine, but if you're feeling more adventurous you could always try your luck and go Kurdish - and why not indeed, the goodly owner is an upstanding citizen of that country and a connoisseur of all things Arabic. And to top it off, there in the distance are the peaks of the Tatra mountains, visible to all on a clear day.

I went there for a breakfast last week and I have to say that the old reviews below are not ok for this moment, service was really good and fast. View is breathtaking, believe me - eating with such view is an extraordinary experience :) Especially breakfast with your beloved man :P Highly recommended
The truth about this place is that the view is breath taking, however the service in the restaurant works in a completely opposite way. We were waiting for our food a ridiculously long time. Plus the waitress was quite rude e.g. when asked if it is possible to change one of the ingredients in the dish for another (e.g. cucumbers in salad for something else) she just simply said 'no' and told us that if we don't like it we can leave it on side. Our food (same as in previous post) wasn't served in the same time. And they also gave us the wrong change and when I pointed that out instead of simple correcting it, I had to insist to get the proper change back, thought we left a tip (more from good manner, than because they deserved it - they didn't) I wouldn't go to a place which such a service ever again. Is the view worth it? It is amazing, but next time I would like to see it I'm going there just for a drink (hoping I would actually get it in in less than an hour).
Waited a ridiculous time for our meals to be served, only for them to be served in an order completely opposite to what we had asked for.
Two of us were eating while the other two were still waiting on their food for half an hour. The two who were eating got their SECOND meal another half hour before the rest of us even got our FIRST meal! How ridiculous. Especially since we asked for all the food to be brought at the same time. We didn't ask for any special meals that required long preparation either. Very basic things, actually
Plates were taken away from us without even asking us if we had finished (we hadn't).
Service was very lukewarm overall.
The only thing this place has going for itself is the fantastic view. Prices are average, but be prepared to wait ridiculous times for your food, and other screwups.
THe best time of year to visit this restaurant. Food is simple but well-cooked and reasonably priced. Service can sometimes be a bit slow but the wait is wort it - one of the best views from any restaurant I've been to!
fantastic food!the best green salad i had in Krakow! very peacefull place and gret view from the window.
Really outstanding food - and not that expensive. There is a great view out over the Vistula River, and apparently you can eat out on the terrace when the weather is good. It was too cold when I was there! Inside it looks rather dated, but in a cool sort of way. Service was not exactly perfect, but the food made up for it. Give it a go!
Followed my brother's footsteps and thoroughly enjoyed his suggestion. Had a wonderful lunch, sitting on the castle terrace, with magnificent views over the countryside. The food was good and the service couteous. The only blemish was the wasp that chose to swim in my beer. Will definitely be going back.
Walking into the Castle at Przegorzala for a meal may seem like the last thing you'd want to do, given the building's disturbing history. It was the residence of Hans Frank, Hitler's notorious Governor in Poland during the last war, and, with its commanding view over te Vistula river, has all the resonance of one of the Fuhrer's own Bavarian castles. However, in true Polish style, the castle has now been commandeered for more lofty pursuits, with a modern University campus building nearby and the excellent U Ziyada restaurant in the main building. We came for the outstanding veal, salmon and goulash dishes, spent the whole meal talking about Poland's chequered recent history, and thoroughly digesting both. The theme restaurant taken to new heights? Unmissable.
this is something you will never see some other place than that. The view is just amazing and the people...just great. trip to get there is worth every grosz specialy when cabs are cheap like hell in poland...
