Pod Kominkiem is a cosy place to come in out of the cold and enjoy some simple, well-priced Polish food. A smattering of old jazz instruments adorn the wall in the main room, whilst on stepping through an arched doorway one finds a second hideaway with a more classic Italian feel. Louis Armstrong seems to be a favourite on the speakers, setting a relaxing tone to the place. A good place to drop by for a beer too - whilst at weekends things may really take off, with regular parties rocking the house.

After reading the previous report about the soup I thought I would give it a try. They were right it was gorgeous. I also had a chicken dish with spinach and rockfor (bad spelling)cheese which was divine. The price worked out at about £10 per person which included drinks. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone.
I forgot to say on the review below that the "Zurek Staropolski" (old fashioned Polish soup) is STUNNING & has me salivating as I remember it!!!!
We also came across this one by accident, and it was amongst the best food we discovered in Krakow. Very atmospheric, reasonably priced, and good and attentive service.
We came across this by accident. Did fabulous barsch with uszka and also a great zurek. We went for the two meat platters for four of us and boy were we stuffed! really lovely food - perfectly cooked beef and pork; chicken possibly a little dry. Don't bother with any side dishes if you order these platters as both come with selection of salads/potatoes. Good beer. Only downside was they tried to overcharge us (this used to happen a lot in Commie days - surprised to see it happen again). Check your bill - they added items we had not ordered. When pointed out they did amend and knocked off price of beer but spoilt an otherwise excellent evening.
Food OK for the price?! Had a meal for two for 55PLN (about a tenner). It was simply gorgeous. It would have happily fed four, stuffed three and nearly killed two. Perhaps I shouldn't have had the zurek (sour soup, also delicious) for starters. Expensive beer but that's of no consequence. Eat here!
