Farina comes as more than just a charming place to while away a couple of hours. This is the only restaurant in this part of town that specialises in fish, and prides itself in farinaceous dishes - hence the name. A personal touch of the owner and chef, Monika Turasiewicz, whose idea of contemporary Polish cuisine is a bow to tradition, and at the same time being open to new worldwide trends and flavours, makes Farina go beyond just Mediterranean cuisine. Here you'll find a choice of cosy rooms to suit all seasons, (one has a magnificent seventeenth century wooden ceiling) and an equally splendid array of dishes to choose from. Start with blinis or soupe de poisson, and then move on to sole with prawns in a fiery red pepper sauce. And an enticing selection of wines from Europe and the New World is on hand to wash it all down.

Fantastic fish restaurant, especially if you come on the days when the fish products are freshly delivered - I think it is Thursday, but worth checking with the restaurant itself.
Quite hit and miss. Have been here half a dozen times in the last couple of years, including this recent weekend. Sometimes we have had fabulous food, other times fairly mediocre grub. At times it seems very popular, at others it is almost empty. I think they do not have a regular chef. Last time it was quite good though.
We tried Farina last night as a Rick Steve's recommended restaurant. We were not dissapointed. The fish was delicious with beautiful presentation. Everything we had was ample and tasted as good as it looked. Great ambiance, a wonderful place for a great dinner after a day of sightseeing.
High standard dishes
High quality ingredients served on a high level
Ver friendly personnel but lacking The high standard of The Food
But why allowing people ho smoke in The restaurant?
Great food--terrible service. After our waitress broke my wine glass that was full of wine, I had to pick glass off of the tabled for the rest of dinner. No replacement glass of wine was offered until I asked. Then just house wine to replace a good French. BUT, the fish was great!!
Wonderful, atmospheric setting. Staff very helpful, extensive menu choice and food delicious. Bit pricey so only went once during our stay - but glad we did!
Was a bit wary of trying fish in Krakow, not being too near the sea, but thiis turned out to be a real highlihght.
Probably the best restaurant in Krakow. Service is very friendly and helpful and food is just fantastic. Highly recommended.

I have a feeling they can do a lot better than they did the night we where there. The waiter was a girl that looked like she was 18, and she seemed very uncertain and spoke also very low. The fish soup was not impressive at all for a norwegian, and also with too little fish in it. And the pasta we had for main course was boring and looked even more boring.
I did not like this resteraunt at all and could not reccomend it in any manner. I am from Ireland where eating out is pricey and have no problem in paying top money for good food. The food at Farina is priced relatively on par with an Irish resteraunt which makes it expensive in comparison to some other fantastic places which we ate in Krakow. In addition veg is extra and the portion sizes are very mediocre. The wine list is very limited and the cost of the food is not a reflection of its quality or of the level of service which is provided there by the waiting staff. Our food was barely warm when it arrived to the table and was cold by the time I was taking the last mouthful. When I mentioned this it was completely ignored.
Just lovely, lovely cooked fish. I had the Sea Bass which came in at about £20 and was well worth it, very reasonalbly priced considering. I would recommend for a nice meal, we had starters and mains and the bill was £65 which isn't bad value especially if you consider the taste!!
I had heard great things about this place from alot of other ex-pats in Krakow so decided to check it out. The biggest mistake was that I went there with my Polish friends. Our treatment was terrible. I was really ashamed of the fact that there was a huge difference in how we were treated compared to the rest of the customers who were all foreign. I was shocked how the waiters were almost kissing the feet of the other customers while we could not even get a menu. We were not told about specials, we were not shown the fish, nobody came to ask how our meal was and we waited around for the check. Interestingly enough I am sure we spent way more than the foreigners (our bill was over 800zl) but all the waiters were too busy trying to earn tips from the foreigners than wait on us. Needless to say, we left our 800 zloty and not a groszy more for the tip. One thing is certain, if I want good service I shouldnt speak Polish when I go out.
Me and my boyfriend went to this restaurant in the winter and we were really positively surprised. The service was superb, the food(fish) was excellent and the interior of the place made us feel really welcome. I would definitely come back here and we have already recommended the place to our friends. The waitress rolled out a trolley with all the fish we could choose from the menu and explained about the different kinds!Highly recommended!
"This is a wonderful restaurant, also suitable for larger groups. Last week we had a dinner here on a special occassion with a group of 18 people. The staff went really out of their way to accomodate us and to make sure that everything exactly as we wished. Management was very friendly and professional. Farina contributed to a very successful evening. Food was good, fresh, wel cooked and good variety, also of vegetables. Food/price rate was very good. Service was absolutely superb. "

Gordon Ramsey would have had a field day with this place as the menu was so large (his pet hate). This of course meant that some of the food must have been pre-frozen and unfortunately our starter was one of these dishes and though tasty was a bit disappointing. I opted for a whole fish for my main course as I was advised that all the filets were pre-frozen, but it arrived overcooked as did my husband's duck breast. The best part was the mushroom pate and bread that was brought out to begin with. This was a disappointing meal as we had been looking forward to it after reading some good reviews. Overall the food was nice but poorly cooked.
Lovely restaurant! We were unsure about whether to go for fish so far from the sea, but friends recommended this one. We weren't disappointed. Delicious....!
This is a gem of a restaurant. There were 16 in the party and we studied the reviews of a number of restaurants before finally booking this one about a week in advance.Prior to booking my only concern was the webcam image-the restaurant appeared quite basic in appearance.Anyway we booked it and am I glad we did.On arrival we were warmly greeted and taken to our table. The room had a great warm atmosphere with good use of subtle lighting and candles. While it is billed as a fish restaurant don't be put off if you are a meat lover(for starter the liver was fantastic) as the menu is very varied but there was also, in the opinion of most, one of the most extensive choices of fish. The service was excellent throughout(obviously well trained).Discreet but always on hand to fill wine glasses nearing empty(12 lovely bottles taken which pushed the price of the overall meal up) - nothing seemed to be a problem to the staff even when 4 late comers arrived at 10pm -they all had three courses in double quick time. Not one bad dish was served from starters to sweet. The food was full of flavour, well presented and if appropriate warm.Congrats to owners, chefs and serving staff. Thanks for giving us a wonderful evening -take a bow - we will be recommending you to others!!!!
Just fantastic and good value for money about 20 pound per head. The mussels are out of this world.
absolutely top notch, 10 of went here Saturday night and had a brilliant time, every body remarked on the quality of food and wine. for 2 courses and plenty of vino it works out about £20, little more expensive than other places but very good
The tops! We ate at a few places on the main square, but none to touch the Farina. Nice combines Polish staples with some Med style. Very good indeed, and a fraction of the price that a similar meal would cost back home in London.
Ate here on a very busy Saturday night in February. Excellent service and atmosphere. Very good prawn starter and baked fish main courses plus good desserts.
was a bit dissappointed at their sister site, farinella - the dish (flavour) was excellent but the tagiatelle was one lump mass on the plate, making it difficult to eat
Nice atmosphere and good food though I can't remember any more what we ate as the menu is not in English on their site. I think it was better anyway one year ago on our first visit... no blins anymore :( Well worth a visit and second best on this trip!
The best meal we had in Krakow! The atmosphere was great, staff very accommodating - although we turned up at closing time, we did not feel rushed and were left to enjoy our wonderful meal in peace. The food was excellent (try the beef carpaccio and the steak) and very good value - I would definitely go back!
Probably the only place in Kraków you can get (a preordered) lobster! Good food, sane prices but marginal service. A lot of the dishes are only avalible thursday-saturday to guarantee freshness. If you need a seafood fix, this is the place to go.
Visited last Thursday.
A wide range of quality, good value dishes available.
Service excellent and price very reasonable.
Would definitely recommend
Took a party of 12 for my parents anniversary in October. Surroundings were lovely and service very attentive. Really enjoyed the food. They had some great wines at reasonable prices. Highly recomended
I was in Farina last saturday. If you are there thurs to sat make sure to have some fish/shellfish. The mussels ala farina are to die for as is the fish soup to start. Zwyiec on tap too.
well theres a lesson here to learnt about expectation!! Had high hopes and was sadly left disappointed. Trying too hard with large plates and small confused foods. Poland has some great eateries, who know what they do well by using local produce wisely. Farino could do with taking this on board. sort it out chef!!
Staff very pushy over wine list & menu. Delivered wrong starter & then tried to get us to change our choice to accomodate their mistake! Lasagne was awful & manager very rude when commented on it. Very pretentious & trying to be three classes above themselves! Avoid!
A nice restaurant with good service and selection.Seemed to empty quickly for a Saturday night at half ten though. Nice seafood pasta.
Farina was excellent. First class food (the beef carpacio melted in my mouth) really friendly staff, a good atmosphere and (by UK standards anyway) great value. Definitely worth a visit.
The staff is very friendly and eager to please. The food is very good - I had seafood for both the starter and the main course and the sea bass was simply divine. My husband and I had a very enjoyable evening there and would definitelz recommend it.
Although we had a guide to our preferred restaurants, we spotted this place when walking to the Magnolia Bar the night before. Very pleasant interior, friendly staff and brilliant food at not over the top prices. If you are thinking of ordering grilled vegetables for a starter there is well enough for two. Dumplings delicious, fillet steak to die for, pasta just the ticket but sole with shrimps just a little on the dry side. Try the Creme Brulee.
I have twice dined at the Farina, and it is one of the best restaurants I know in Poland (where I have worked and travelled regularly). Readers might be interested to know that the latest issue of 'hidden europe' magazine (July 2005) (www.hiddeneurope.co.uk) has a very positive comment on this restaurant.
we had fantastic dinner last night at Farina
Restarant.Beautiful deserts!apple cace-fantastic,top place in Krakow.
Just had a superb meal with excellent service in beautiful surroundings. Would recommend this to anyone in Krakow - the fish, the duck and wonderful deserts (try the semi-fredo Nougat with Wild Berry Sauce. Medium Price (for Krakow)
