Wisniowy Sad, 'The Cherry Orchard' is a dainty little hideaway in the heart of the Old Town. Chekhov fans won't have much trouble in guessing the flavour of this spot. On a snow-swept winter's day you can warm yourself with classic Russian soups such as borscht or Solianka. Blinis with caviar (not forgetting a round of ice cold vodkas) will soon have you feeling like Count Vronsky, and there is a good selection of other Russky dishes. Find it down the atmospheric old corridor at Grodzka 33.

Ambience so thick you could cut it. I thought I was on stage at "The Cherry Orchard". Excellent way to end a hectic day and begin a romantic evening with a lover. Mine ordered Siberian ravioli and I ordered catfish. With starters of herring and mushrooms, we had plenty to share so we each had a taste of several authentic Russian dishes. Service was impeccable, though staff seemed timid due to language differences. Highly recommend.
After reading the reviews on here, I wonder if I went to a different restaurant. Our experience at Wisniowy Sad was awful. The table cloth was dirty, the waitress wasn't very friendly and didn't even get us basic things like cutlery - we had to ask?! The food was poor. Our ''Russian Champagne'' was not opened in front of us, and we wondered on tasting it whether they had filled up a champagne bottle with Elderflower Fizz - Because that's what it tasted like. It was horribly sweet, so we didn't finish it. All in all I wouldn't recommend eating here. What's worse is we went for my husbands birthday, which ruined the night a bit, but we made up for it by going to other fabulous restaurants in Krakow, with much better food and ambience. My advice would be to eat elsewhere!!!!!!!
The loveliest atmosfere of all the restaurants we went to in Krakow.
We regretted we didn´t have a bottle of russian champagne (40 zl!) but after all it was only lunchtime. I had siberian ravioli in boullion which was very good.
Will definitely go there again.
This is one of my favourite restaurants in Cracow. Very good desserts and tasteful coffee. Always there is a possibility to listen to Russian music and hear Russian language. I think the best recommendation is that also Russians come here. One dish I'd recommend to try is fried apple. Very very good :)
What a great place. Great service and a very friendly cat. Decor is like an East European front room, very atmospheric. Arabic and Spanish music strangely compliments the Russian vibe. Go down the alleyway and you'll find it quiet and peaceful compared to the rush of tourists outside. Certainly recommended for a relaxing cuppa.
This place is great - feels like you're in the living room of a Russian aunt. Very relaxed atmosphere and a good balance of local and tourist clientelle. The Siberian Salmon with a shot of vodka is the perfect wake-up call (although both will freeze your teeth a little). Excellent pierogi too. Worth wandering down the intimidating alley to find it.
