Charming service, superbly prepared food, and an enviable location on Kazimierz's most historic plaza - all these ingredients look set to ensure that Szara will be a runaway hit. The owner knows what he is doing, and he comes fresh from the success of his flagship restaurant on Cracow's main market square. The decor of his new venture takes its cue from its predecessor, but upstairs a private dining room is being created for special occasions. Above all, the food is delicious and it is presented with flair. You'll find one of the best steaks in town, whilst the other dishes - which have a Scandinavian accent - are of a similar calibre As so often with a standout venue, it's all in the detail, and even the bread is a notch above your average.

Wykwintne miejsce na Szerokiej, wyśmienita, różnorodna kuchnia, każdy coś dobrego znajdzie dla siebie.
Having visited Szara Restaurant - Kazimierz on a previous visit to Krakow, I was really looking forward to going back over there. I was one of a group of eighteen who went there last week and it was such a profound disappointment. Our starters arrived after about 30 minutes and my fish soup was good. Four of our group decided not to have a starter - bad mistake. Two and a half hours after our arrival at the restaurant we were still waiting so long for our main courses and four people had eaten nothing during that entire time!
After such a long wait, I did not anticipate cold food - but that is what I got. Despite the obviously dreadful service, when we asked about the delay there was not a hint of apology from their side, when our food arrived, cold, there was no apology, when we decided to leave because the experience was so dreadful, there was no apology. I dont associate this kind of rudeness with Krakow - a city I truely love. I will not be back : )
The food was absolutely amazing, both in terms of taste and presentation. The mushroom soup is GORGEOUS! The staff speaks English and is extremely helpful. I would definitely recommend it!
Excellent. Glad to recommend, and v. evocative location. Shame not more Polish dishes on the menu though...
Living in Poland for 14 months now and so far this is the best food I experienced in this country, simply delicious, high quality of products and preperation, fresh ingredients, original dishes, great drinks, desserts, service, I cannot say one thing about this restaurant. Prices are not cheap for Polish standards, but looking at what you get, more then honest, highly recommended.
Always fantastic food, service and value. Can eat outside front and back, weather permitting. Highly recommended!
We were staying in the Hotel Rubinstein opposite and stumbled across this one. A real find. As good as Paris. Attentive service too. Food seemed more international than specifically Polish but delicious.
We went here on a cold Saturday lunchtime and it was without doubt the best restaurant I have been to in my two years of living in Poland, whether in Warsaw, gdansk or Krakow. Superb - excellent service in English, the freshest ingredients, carpaccio of salmon and other fish to die for and the most beautiful presentation of interesting dishes. No problem at all with my mother coeliac disease/gluten allergy and they stocked Zambucca - always my true test of a spirits menu! Highly highly recommended.
We found this fantastic restaurant by chance on a very cold day in March. I had the best steak ever here, service was great and generally worth every penny. I would strongly recommend this to anyone visiting Kazimierz. Also the same restaurant in Krakow main square is just as fabulous.
This was easily the best meal we had whilst in Krakow on a short break at the beginning of December 2007. Absolutely everything about it was fantastic, from the friendly service to the excellent food, which was really nicely presented. On a really cold, snowy night, it was a real pleasure to discover this little gem! Complete with traditional wood burners just inside the door, the atmosphere was truly warm and inviting. Highly recommended!!
Superb restaraunt - we stayed in Krakow for 5 nights and ate here twice it was that good. Fish soup is amazing. Excellent duck and steak too. Staff were lovely. Couldnt recommend it highly enough
Portions were big, so maybe 2 courses would suffice. I had a half bowl of the fish bouillabaisse, full of flavour, very filling and would easily pass for a main course. Followed up with a Chicken Caesar Salad, croutons where soft there was a mountain of lettuce in a weak ceaser dressing and 4 thin strips of Chicken, so not the best of quality. Carafe of the house white was great, Kevs gravlax was delicious, beautifully presented with a mustard dressing. Totalled at 140PLN.
We sat outside because there was a wedding reception taking place at the rear of the restaurant. As the Bride and Groom fluttered in and around, we sipped our wine in the warm balmy night and reminisced about our wedding day.
ate here twice when we visited Krakow in April, food is lovely, great value and good service. Highly recommened.
I have dined here several times and it has always been excellent in terms of menu, quality of food and value for money - can't fault it and would highly recommend it!
I've been to Krakow twice and both times dined here. It is simply superb. Will be returning to Krakow in the Autumn and will definitely be going there again.
