If you're arriving in the city by air, you can jump in an Avis car at Cracow's Balice airport. They're open from six in the morning, right through to midnight. If you're already in town, no problem, you can drop by their office at Lubicz 23, open Monday to Saturday 9am to 5pm, to sort yourself out some wheels. Avis have got a great fleet of cars ready to drive away including the Toyota Yaris, Nissan Notes and Volvo S40. You can also request one of 10 other vehicles including Renaults, Ford Transits and Chrysler Voyagers.
Book your car online here, or to find out more just go to the site, click "Display Rental Agreement" and hit "Ask Avis". Avis' English language website should be able to answer all your queries and if it can't, you can contact them directly. And once you're all buckled up and raring to go, Cracow and its surroundings are yours to discover. The medieval market square is a joy to discover and hip Kazimierz is a great place to unwind after all that signtseeing. And there's plenty to see in a daytrip from the city like the stunning countryside and castles of the Ojcow region, a nifty half an hours scoot from the centre of town.

I am an Avis Preferred custom (which means I have an online profile indicating my rental preferences that are fixed at the time I make the on-line booking).
When renting a car from the airport the staff ignored what was on my profile and tried to add on addition services such as insurance for an excess reduction and personal insurance that were not on my profile. Such extras are very poor value for money costing around extra $80 a day.
I had to insist that they redo the contract as per what was on my profile and even then they attempted to charge for these services on my credit card.
I have rented over 100 cars with Avis and this by far and away my worst rental experience. Avis in Krakow should be avoided.
It seems to me that prices for renting cars in Poland is pretty high! I've found the bet deals to be with independent, small operators rather than the larger networks like Avis and Europcar... am I right?
Well, the roads could be alittle bit better. But having your own set of wheels is still the way to go. The ladies LOVE the wheels... Just can't pick up a girl with a bus pass. Krakow rules!
