Enhancing the entrance to Tivoli Park, the Museum of Modern Art somewhat austerely sits to the left of the park's green expanse. Despite a dismissively drab exterior, the museum's collection of 20th century Slovenian and international art is the most vibrant and inspiring in the capital. Completed in 1951 to the design of Slovenian architect Edvard Ravnikar, the functionalist building combines features of Ravnikar's infamous mentor Plecnik in the stone facade and windows, with the practical rationale of then-contemporary architecture. The Museum includes the national collection of 20th century Slovene art (paintings, sculptures, prints and drawings as well as photography, video and electronic media collections), a collection of works from the former Yugoslavia, and the international collection Arteast 2000+. Worth a visit.

Museum was reopened in 2009 and since 2011 Moderna galerija has two venues. One is this one - The Museum of Modern Art - and another is Museum of Contemporary Art Metelkova (+MSUM), near the alternative place Metelkova Mesto.
The Modern Art Museum has been closed for renovation as of March 4, 2007 and is scheduled to reopen 'sometime next year.'
