Touting itself as the "first designer hotel in Slovenia," we can likewise crown Mons as the only submission to the passing "designer hotel" craze, if there ever was one. That said, Mons does deserve a place among Ljubljana's elite accommodators. With ultra-modern, attention-getting architecture by the acclaimed Boris Podrecca, Mons Hotel boasts a colourful facade of glass and fractal patterns and bright interior of bold, colourful furniture, including a 'grand atrium.' Five minutes west of the city centre, Mons' modern trappings manage not to trespass against the peaceful woodlands surrounding the geometric monolith, which is only enhanced by the views. Choose from 111 fully-equipped rooms and three luxury suites, each endowed by unique graphics created in cooperation with the architecture department of Ljubljana University. A state-of-the-art conference centre and two unique restaurants also bolster the breadth of the Mons experience.
