Ljubljana Festival Underway
The 60th anniversary edition of the summertime Ljubljana Festival is now underway in Slovenias capital. With its long history as a pivotal part of Ljubljanas cultural calendar, the festival has established itself as one of the must-see events in the city combining modern culture with traditional folklore.
This years the festivals programme will host a wide variety of events, including musical concerts, theatre and dance performances, workshops, musicals, and arts exhibitions. Highlights include a performance by the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra led by the acclaimed conductor Sir Simon Rattle. Also performing: violinist Vadim Repin and composer and pianist Michael Nyman.
The festival takes place across Ljubljana and will continue through the summer until its final events on 13 September 2012.
