Reviews of Restaurants in Ljubljana
What do you have against the consumption of horse meat?
What do you have against horse eaters?
The big tourist trap at Ljubljana .Mixed grill was very very bad.
Top place for hungry late night.
Good choice
Surprisingly tasty
Great food, service, and ambiance. Outstanding dining experience while visiting in Ljubljana. Our waitperson was a female who is studying languages at Ljubljana University and speaks five languages. She made our experience even more special. Highly recommend if looking for options of both local cuisine and north american cuisine.
Shame on you horse eaters :(
Not all Slovenians love horsemeat. It is not a traditional choice of meat, in fact it only recently became a trend due to tireless advertisement. I has been frowned upon for centuries (a horse was considered a noble creature) but became more widely consumed after ww2 as a result of food shortage, especially in larger cities (Ljubljana). Unfortunately it became a tourist attraction.
Available at a Tesco near you!
So popular, horse meat is now to be found all across Europe!
Janko, we did not change suppliers and I can assure our quality remains top class. All the others, thank you for your compliments, we try to do our best!
This place went bust and closed several years ago (writing this in early 2012). Please update your information.
It used to be so good but then they changed suppliers and it's not that good anymore, actually I don't think I will eat one again.
worst service in ljubljana. slow, unkind and tend to forget your orders.food was served cold and was pretty much unedible. I strongly recommend avoiding that restaurant, wich doesn't even deserve the name restaurant. not to mention the food is not even close to mexican tastes.
I couldn't resist. @Mary, You're more than welcome to come and eat our kangaroos in Australia. We package them and sell them in the supermarket.
Delicious, authentic food! Lovely little shop with warm, helpful and friendly staff! Spectacular find in Ljubljana!
I apology for mary's crazy comment.. mary seems to be a "pollitically correct" naive USA girlie.... mary can not understand eating horses. mary seems too srupid and thinks horses are US-Animals and other "barbarian" countries are eating them.... Mary. different countries different habbits, marry accept that. OK? BTW - i do NOT eat horse meat.
To me a good place, the food isn't the best one in ljubljana but still very decent meals and some nice waiters!
Drinks are ok but the food has nothing special, it doesn't taste close to mexican! And the waiters are nice but they are probably beginners, they look overwhelmed and often forget your order!
.... sem e slabe tri leta va gost pa moram priznat čeprav sem prekmurc da se pri vas dobi vse tisto kar v prekmurju le obljubljajo......čestitke.....
AGHHH I HATE YOU PEOPLE SPEND ONE DAY WITH THEM YOU WOULD UNDERSTAND THE GENTLNESS THE KINDNESS IN THIERE EYES OK LISTEN WHAT IF SOMEONE WERE TO EAT U IN A BUN...now i am not a vegetarin but i love horses what if i ate ur countrys animal that you love so much that if someone at it yuo would wanna like kill them.....think about it
Crazy, original place. We had some of the tapas, they were pretty good, and the drinks were great. Worth checking out.
This is an absolute tourist trap. the food, you better go to Macdonalds.. the staff couldn't care less, when we said the dish is not cooked and cold, they shook their shoulders, knowing we will not be back anyhow...
I was very skeptical of this place, but upon a drunk outing I gave it a try, and I must admit, horse burgers are delicious!
Awesome horse burgers. Grab one and eat one whilst you are walking - 'on the hoof' - so to speak.
Great late-night choice!
Chez Eric has been highly reviewed elsewhere and I thought we might stop in when we're in Ljubljana this month. But a friend who visited recently said it may no longer be at this location. Can somebody let me know? Thanks
Was there in 2006 and it was a nice spot for a beer and a hearty fill-up.
Ok, the food is authentic Bosnian, but the prices are rather steep and the couple who own the restaurant need to go on a customer care course! The restaurant is usually empty, which kind of gives you a clue, but we thought we'd give it a try on one of the nights with live music. We bought the musicians a drink and the owners took the drinks from their hands and threw them down the sink and told us we should have ordered more food! Dont come here for a pleasant evening.
There's only one way to eat your horse - hot! Actually, it tastes really good!
With your choice of sauces (mayo, mustard, ketchup, nacho cheese, tabasco) and fixings (sauerkraut, onions, tomatoes)!
mmm...all over my face and shirt, I love it!
The burgers are massive, I can only eat half of one. They also have salads, desserts and fruit, none of which have horse as an ingredient (so far as I know)...
Basically tastes like a good steak. Screw riding them, I can't look at a horse anymore without wanting to eat it...
I love horse burgers! I can't go through Tivoli without eating one, which essentially nullifies the exercise I'm supposed to be getting in the park...oh well--it's worth it! Everyone should try one!
What the hell's going on here...should I be offended?
Oh yeah, the name. A history lesson: Seems 1867 was important to both Mexican and Slovenian history. In that year Maximilian I, Emperor of Mexico and brother of Austro-Hungarian Emperor Franz Joseph I, and his army of 6,000 volunteers - including many Slovenians - lost the Mexican Civil War. The Slovenians who survived, preferring their homeland, returned there (to start this great Mexican restaurant!).
I had the best venison in cherry sauce ever!!! The staff was absolutely wonderful...and there were parties upstairs...downstairs all around...it was the end of June. My whole family loved it and the dessert...even better!!!!
In this "restaurant" bier is the only good thing. The staff is really rude and the food is of low quality. My suggestion: drink a bier at the entrance and ask for a good restaurant.
Exelent place this its the most favorite in all slevenija place for drink
My husband had venison which he enjoyed while I had a pasta with a succulent truffle sauce. The service was excellent and the price was lower than we anticipated. I highly recommend this restaurant for tourists visiting the city.
Doesn't get any better than this. We dropped into this place accidentally while we were looking for a decent bar, but what a mistake to make! We ended up eating here every night of our stay.
I would recommend the homemade beer from Sokol - it's dark, a bit sweet and very tasty. The food was also very good though we arrived there round 9.30 p.m. The audience around us was enjoyable...families, businessmen and of course other tourists. :-D
Excellent service and top Spanish beer!
