As far as history lessons go, a trip to the British Museum has got to be one of the most engaging ways to immerse oneself into the extraordinary story of human civilization. The museum’s vast collection holds an incredible array of artefacts from the four corners of the earth, but most kids make a beeline for the Egyptian mummies (who can blame them!). Other highlights include the Rosetta Stone, one of the key tools in the quest towards understanding Egyptian hieroglyphics, and sculptures from the Parthenon in Greece, also known as the Elgin Marbles. Admission to the museum is free, though a donation is encouraged, as in all of London’s free museums.
