Considered to be the world’s greatest museum of decorative art and design, the V&A is an immense collection of objects spanning some 5000 years of art. Open since 1852, the V&A has become one of London’s top cultural draws, and it’s no wonder " the place is home to everything from ancient ceramics to modern pop memorabilia from all across the globe. Don’t miss the impressive Asian galleries, as well as the famous Raphael “cartoons”. These paintings by the Italian Renaissance artist are actually full-size drafts of tapestries destined for the Sistine Chapel. Entrance to the permanent collection is free, though a modest donation is encouraged at the door. The temporary photography, design, and fashion exhibitions tend to have paid entry.
