Euro 2012 Confirmed for Lviv

UEFA president Michel Platini has finally confirmed Lviv as one of the four cities to host the Euro 2012 football championship in Ukraine. Donetsk, Kharkiv, and Kiev, which will host the final in its reconstructed Olympic Stadium, will also host matches.

Poland will also host matches in the championship, and its four cities (Wroclaw, Warsaw, Gdansk, and Poznan) were approved earlier this year, but Platini waited until now to confirm Ukraine's cities due to his previous uncertainties about their readiness as host cities. Ukraine was particularly badly hit in the global economic recession.

The Lemberg Stadium in Lviv is still under construction.
